David J. Levine

I am a soft roboticist, mechanical engineer and Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania.

I’m currently a doctoral student in the Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics department at the University of Pennsylvania. I work in the Sung Robotics Laboratory, led by Dr. Cynthia Sung, which is a part of the GRASP Lab. Previously, I worked in the Organic Robotics Laboratory at Cornell University, led by Dr. Robert Shepherd and the Space Systems Design Studio, led by Dr. Mason Peck. I’ve also worked at SpaceX and NASA.

I am very interested in bio-inspired machines, soft materials, advanced manufacturing, design optimization and automation. Recently, I’ve been working on the integration of origami mechanics into locomotive robot designs.
